Newspapers

The library offers a variety of e-newspaper resources, including daily real-time updates from United Daily News and Economic Daily News, as well as weekly updates from Haodu Weekly. It also provides consolidated headline indexes and summaries from multiple newspapers, helping readers quickly stay informed on major news.

  • Access the database via the E-Resources System.
  • To log in, use your NLPI Library card account (ID number) and password. Once logged in, you can access all available digital collections.

United Knowledge Database – Original Newspaper Archive (United Daily News, Economic Daily News, HaoDu Weekly)

Provides digitized editions of the latest United Daily News and Economic Daily News (updated daily at 6 a.m.), as well as HaoDu Weekly (updated every Monday). Users can browse and search both current and past issues, including full-page newspapers and summaries. Content covers national and local news, charts, and advertisements. HaoDu Weekly is specially designed for young readers, focusing on reading and writing skills.

  • Note: The United Evening News ceased publication on June 2, 2020.

Taiwan News Smart Web (TNSW)

This database provides a comprehensive news index and abstracts, along with selected full-page images, from 14 major newspapers, including the United Daily News (national and local editions), United Evening News, Economic Daily News, Min Sheng Daily, China Times, Liberty Times, Apple Daily, Keng Sheng Daily, China Daily News, and Commercial Times. It covers diverse sections such as politics, society, finance, sports, entertainment, and literary supplements to meet the various needs of users.

Integrated Platform for Taiwan Nichinichi Shimpo and Kanbun Nichinichi Shimpo

This platform offers a keyword index of nearly 3 million entries covering people, events, dates, locations, and objects, alongside 150,000 full-page images of the Taiwan Nichinichi Shimpo. By mapping over 3 million headlines directly to their specific positions within the newspaper images, the system allows readers to navigate directly to the corresponding visual content. This provides a more precise, complete, and clear digital restoration of the Taiwan Nichinichi Shimpo as it appeared over a century ago.
